Mega Moolah Gameplay

It took no time at all for me to get to grips with the Mega Moolah gameplay. The game is set on a 5x3 grid with 25 fixed paylines. You just need to set the coin value from 0.01 to 0.05 and spin the reels.

This online slot pays out left to right, starting with the leftmost reel. I was pleased to learn that just two matching high-paying symbols need to land on a payline to earn a payout. This is compared to three matching low-paying symbols.

I found both wild and scatter symbols when playing the Mega Moolah demo. The lion is the wild, and it can substitute for any other symbol except the scatter. It brings a 2x multiplier when a winning combination forms. 3+ scatter symbols landing anywhere on the reels will trigger the free spins bonus, which I will discuss further later on.

The traditional royal symbols are low-paying.

I claimed my biggest wins when I matched antelope, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, and elephant symbols. I earned a 5x payout when four giraffes landed on a payline. The amount grew to 30x my stake when five elephants hit a payline.

Theme and Story of the Mega Moolah Slot

I instantly noticed the animal theme and could see why Mega Moolah is often compared to an African safari. Set in the savanna, you will come across many of the continent's most common species.

I was certainly reminded of the first time I watched The Lion King when I launched the Mega Moolah demo. This is due to the barren setting. While it is a common theme, Games Global has kept things simple, which I feel gives the slot a certain charm.

Graphics, Sounds, and Vibes

Set on a classic African plain, I instantly gained a sense of the heat and barrenness. This is because of the background, which features water-starved trees and a dusty skyline. Unlike some other slots I have played, I was left in no doubt as to what Games Global was trying to evoke with the design.

Although the game has been remastered on more than one occasion, the graphics are basic. However, tribal imagery and cartoon-style symbols help to provide a good visual experience. I also enjoyed the animations when winning symbols form. The roaring lion and winking antelope were my personal favourites.

The traditional zulu-style soundtrack is enjoyable, and I liked how the speed increased when I triggered the free spins bonus. It made me feel like I was being chased by a herd of antelope or a herd of buffalo. I liked the sound of coins stacking up when a winning combination formed.

Mega Moolah Slot on mobile

Games Global has nailed how the slot operates on mobile in my opinion. The game looks equally good in portrait and landscape modes. I opted for the former on my smartphone as I enjoyed the impressive tree that dominates the background.

The reels, jackpots, and spin button are also conveniently positioned, which made my life easy. I was able to appreciate the attention to detail of the graphics better on mobile devices. However, operating in landscape mode did make it more difficult to view my balance and bet size.

I activated the free spins bonus when 3 witch doctor scatter symbols landed anywhere on the reels. I was quickly taken away from the base game and awarded with 15 free spins. During this round, my wins were also boosted by a 3x multiplier.

Although I was not lucky enough to enjoy this feature, the Mega Moolah rules state that wins with wild symbols during the free spins round come with a 6x multiplier. Another 15 free spins are won if you land an additional 3+ scatters.

The Mega Moolah RTP is lower than average at 93.42%. This is common with progressive jackpot slots, as is the low volatility. This means that payouts are frequent, but smaller.

Bonus Frequency

I triggered the free spins bonus twice from 100 spins when I played the Mega Moolah demo. This is above average, but I had to wait 125 spins to activate the progressive jackpot bonus game. However, this will vary between sessions.

Testing the Mega Moolah Slot with a £50 Bankroll

I played the Mega Moolah demo and set my stake to £1. It took me three spins to earn a payout. My opening wins were small at just £1.20 and £2, but doubling my bet size quickly gave me payouts of £12 and £20. £20 was my highest win, and I ended my session having made £5.50 in virtual coins. My longest dry spell lasted 12 spins.

Mega Moolah deserves its glowing reputation in my opinion. The jackpots alone are enough to entice you into playing. However, I also enjoyed the free spins bonus, tribal soundtrack, and regular payouts.
