Wild Weather Slot Gameplay
Wild Weather is a fairly standard slot game, with the action unfolding on a 5-reel, 4-row grid with 18 winlines. Technically, there are only 9 winlines, but each pays in both directions.
This is a deviation from what other similar casino slots offer, but the changes stop there, as only the highest wins per winline are paid.
The game’s native betting range runs from £0.10 to £100, but UK-facing online slots are capped at £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 per spin for players aged 18–24. If you decide to play with a £1 stake, here’s what you can win on some of the better symbols:
| Symbol | 3x match | 4x match | 5x match |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heavy rain with thunderstorm | £4 | £10 | £20 |
| Snow/heavy rain | £3 | £7.50 | £15 |
| Partly cloudy/cloudy | £2 | £6 | £10 |
| 30°/22°/10° | £1 | £3 | £6 |
| 0°/-5° | £0.50 | £1.50 | £3 |
Theme and Story of the Wild Weather Slot
Wild Weather’s theme is weather and weather forecasts. Even playing the Wild Weather slot demo, it’s quick to see that there’s no story, but one isn’t needed as the theme is well incorporated into the slot’s mechanics.
Even though the symbols are just weather forecast icons, it’s easy to tell which are the better ones, as their payouts rise with the symbol's temperature or the severity of the weather. Plus, the temperature symbols largely correspond to standard number and letter symbols, while the weather icons correspond to higher-paying picture symbols.
Graphics, Sounds, and Vibes
Wild Weather’s graphics are good, on par with games released in 2020, but they are very minimalist, so don’t expect to see anything spectacular.
The sound design is simple but effective, though it can at times make you feel like you’re in an elevator, with the simple jingle in the background and the ding that follows the appearance of the sun symbol.
However, some animations have very appropriate sounds, like the whirlwind sound you hear as the tornado-shaped wild expands.
Overall, the vibe is very relaxing, which we feel aligns with the game’s medium volatility and simple gameplay.
Here what one of my colleagues thought about the graphics and sound:
The game’s graphics and sounds are minimalist, as expected, given its theme. However, the animations are great, especially the background ones, which let you follow changes in the time of day as symbols land on the grid.
Wild Weather Slot on Mobile
For this Wild Weather slot review, we played the game on desktop and mobile casinos, and it's great in landscape mode on mobile but weak in portrait mode. In the former, everything is well aligned, and the Spin button sits comfortably on the right, so you can easily play the game one-handed, as long as you’re right-handed.
However, in portrait mode, it looks and performs poorly. The grid covers only the top third, leaving more than half of the screen empty, with only the Spin button in the middle. It’s still relatively easy to reach, even one-handed, but it makes no sense to leave so much screen space bare.
The mobile version of Wild Weather is excellent, but only in landscape mode, which is comparable to the desktop version.
Wild Weather Slot Bonus Features
Wild Weather has only a handful of bonus features, including a free spin round, expanding sun symbols, and expanding wilds.
Expanding Wilds
Whenever you land a wild, and it has something to connect with to form a winning combination, it will expand. More than that, it always expands to cover the full reel, so you get several chances to make winning combos.
Free Spins Bonus Round
The free spins are activated whenever you land 3, 4, or 5 scatters (sun symbols) in the base game. You get 5, 10, or 15 free spins.
Wild Sun Symbols
This special expanding form of the scatter is available only in the free spin bonus round. Whenever you land a sun icon, it expands and turns into a 2x2 symbol, becoming a wild and giving you several chances to make winning combos.
The number and quality of the bonus features could be better, but you still have a decent chance of winning big, especially from the expanding wilds.
Wild Weather Slot Wagering Details
Before you try Wild Weather, it’s worth learning about the game’s key details, including RTP, volatility, variance, and top wins.
RTP and Volatility
The Wild Weather slot RTP is 96%, which is the average for slots. The Wild Weather slot volatility is medium, meaning you can expect some reasonable wins and relatively frequent payouts.
Bet Sizes and Variance
You can bet from £0.10 to £5 if you’re 25 and over, and up to £2 if you’re 18 to 24 years old, as per betting limits in the UK.
The Wild Weather slot maximum win is 360x the bet, so with the max stake of £5, the most you could win from this game is £1,800. There’s no fixed or progressive jackpot feature.
Bonus Frequency
Given its medium volatility, you can expect to trigger the free spins bonus round every 120-160 spins. Wild Weather sits comfortably in the middle when compared to low- and high-frequency slots.
Bear in mind that this is just an estimate. Wild Weather is still a slot, so all results are completely randomised, meaning there’s no way of telling what will happen in each of your sessions.
Testing the Wild Weather Slot With a £50 Bankroll
To avoid spending too much real money on a game I haven’t tried before, I decided to use the Wild Weather slot free demo, which you can also try for free on this page.
I started with a virtual £50 bankroll and set the bet amount to £0.50 to have at least 100 spins.
By the time I got to my 100th spin, the game rewarded me only 10 times, including two instances of triggering 5 free spins, with £3.75 won the first time and £2.25 the second.

The other wins included 5 regular and 3 wild ones, and none paid out more than £3. In total, I won only £21.50, which isn’t much from a £50 total stake.
With a £21.50 return from £50 total staked, the RTP for my 100-spin session was only 43%, a far cry from the theoretical 96%. And this was with as many as 2 bonus rounds. In my experience, these bonus rounds rarely reward a lot, so it’s best to start small when playing for the first time, maybe even with the smallest bet setting of £0.10.
Wild Weather Slot vs Similar Slot Games
If you’re interested in seeing how the game fares against other similar slots, or want to focus on alternative releases with a similar theme or mechanics, we have a few suggestions.
You can go for the timeless Starburst, which also features expanding wilds and pays both ways, or maybe Ice Joker with its icy theme and a free spin round with an expanding symbol. You can also try another Tom Horn Gaming slot, 243 Crystal Fruits, which is the developer’s flagship game.
Here’s a more detailed comparison:
| Slot | Developer | RTP | Max Win | Volatility |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wild Weather | Tom Horn Gaming | 96% | 360x | Medium |
| Starburst | NetEnt | 96.09% | 500x | Low |
| Ice Joker | Play’n GO | 96.23% | 3,000x | Medium |
| 243 Crystal Fruits | Tom Horn Gaming | 96.55% | 100x | Medium |
We recommend trying the Wild Weather slot for its original theme and overall design. We appreciate the standard gameplay, 96 RTP%, and medium volatility, which should appeal to many casual slot fans.
However, it’s not for players expecting large wins and bonus rounds that reward 10x or even 50x what you normally get in the base game.
