Wild Weather is a fairly standard slot game, with the action unfolding on a 5-reel, 4-row grid with 18 winlines. Technically, there are only 9 winlines, but each pays in both directions.

This is a deviation from what other similar casino slots offer, but the changes stop there, as only the highest wins per winline are paid.

Theme and Story of the Wild Weather Slot

Wild Weather’s theme is weather and weather forecasts. Even playing the Wild Weather slot demo, it’s quick to see that there’s no story, but one isn’t needed as the theme is well incorporated into the slot’s mechanics.

Even though the symbols are just weather forecast icons, it’s easy to tell which are the better ones, as their payouts rise with the symbol's temperature or the severity of the weather. Plus, the temperature symbols largely correspond to standard number and letter symbols, while the weather icons correspond to higher-paying picture symbols.

The sound design is simple but effective, though it can at times make you feel like you’re in an elevator, with the simple jingle in the background and the ding that follows the appearance of the sun symbol.

However, some animations have very appropriate sounds, like the whirlwind sound you hear as the tornado-shaped wild expands.

Overall, the vibe is very relaxing, which we feel aligns with the game’s medium volatility and simple gameplay.

Wild Weather Slot on Mobile

For this Wild Weather slot review, we played the game on desktop and mobile casinos, and it's great in landscape mode on mobile but weak in portrait mode. In the former, everything is well aligned, and the Spin button sits comfortably on the right, so you can easily play the game one-handed, as long as you’re right-handed.

However, in portrait mode, it looks and performs poorly. The grid covers only the top third, leaving more than half of the screen empty, with only the Spin button in the middle. It’s still relatively easy to reach, even one-handed, but it makes no sense to leave so much screen space bare.

Expanding Wilds

Whenever you land a wild, and it has something to connect with to form a winning combination, it will expand. More than that, it always expands to cover the full reel, so you get several chances to make winning combos.

Wild Sun Symbols

This special expanding form of the scatter is available only in the free spin bonus round. Whenever you land a sun icon, it expands and turns into a 2x2 symbol, becoming a wild and giving you several chances to make winning combos.

The number and quality of the bonus features could be better, but you still have a decent chance of winning big, especially from the expanding wilds.
