The everyday gambler will probably consider the casino to be like a second home to them. It provides a place to enjoy playing their favourite games, with a social aspect included, and bars and restaurants for nourishment.

Essentially, everything you can do at home, you can do in the casino – other than sleep, although it's expected that some people have tried! But what about other things that have happened inside land-based casinos?

A land-based casino is very different from a top online casino site, where you play from a desktop computer or mobile device. You can see various other things occurring within these establishments, and not always something you would expect. Doubtless, some bizarre events have taken place within the walls of different casinos, which is what we're going to look at today.

Just how weird have these occurrences been, though? Can you guess any of the things that have happened? Well, join us as we provide you with an insight into some of the weirdest things to have occurred in a casino.

Watch out the evil spirits when gambling!

Warding off Evil Spirits

Many people consider ghosts and other evil spirits to linger around the place where they died, and casinos haven't historically been definitively linked with a significant number of deaths. Yet, it seems as though warding off evil spirits is something that one gambler put into practice while visiting such an establishment. According to one casino worker, a player was seated at a roulette table enjoying his time gambling.

Yet every time the dealer spun the wheel and threw the ball into it, the man would throw salt into an ashtray. Curious as to why he was doing this, the casino worker questioned him on his routine. His response? That he was warding off evil spirits, thereby giving himself a better chance of winning his roulette bets!

Putting Your Money Where Your Mouth is

Security guards at casinos likely see many bizarre events taking place during their shifts. And that was certainly the case for one guard working at a casino in Nairobi, Kenya. One customer had tried his odds at the roulette table, spreading his money across a large portion of the numbers. Despite having pretty good odds, he lost all bets, which he didn't take well.

The player ended up grabbing the money before the dealer could take it before running towards the exit. A security guard cornered him, but when he found he could not escape, the man put the paper money into his mouth and tried swallowing it!

It took two guards to tackle him down and make him spit out the money. Instead of moving the bills elsewhere, the guards returned them to the roulette table, all crumpled up and soggy from being in the man's mouth. The dealer called over a cleaner, who promptly brought an electric fan with her.

The fan was directed at the money, drying it out reasonably quickly, and then it was returned to play. No further information on the offending man was ever discovered. This is pretty common in the Macau casinos too.

A 1950s Death Scene

Back in the 1950s, gambling was illegal in London, but this didn't stop some avid criminals from setting up their underground establishments. One person told a story of their great grandfather working as a casino employee for a gang at such an establishment back in the day, with the gambling business veiled as a gentlemen's club.

On one night, a group of men entered the casino, and one of them drank so much liquor that he passed out. His friends placed him on a chaise lounge to sleep off his drunk episode while they continued playing rounds of poker at the casino tables.

Yet upon checking on their friend a couple of hours later, it was discovered that he wasn't breathing. His death was confirmed, but nobody in the illegal establishment wanted to be caught gambling. So, the club gathered various employees, including the storyteller's great grandfather, to carry his body to the actual gentlemen's club located next door. There, they left him in a chair, where he was later discovered by someone else and confirmed to be dead

The underground casino had managed to evade capture at the hands of a dead man!

Are there little men inside the slots

The Little Man Inside Slot Machines

Many people hold certain superstitions when it comes to casinos and even gambling itself in general. For this reason, many players take their preferred good luck charms with them to the casino to hopefully provide them with a fortune. Of course, that's all relatively easy to understand, and many people engage in good luck charms for various activities.

Yet it comes to a bit of a bizarre head when someone believes that a small man is living inside a slot machine game, right? And that small man is the decider on whether a winning payout is provided to the player utilising the slot.

But such a scenario has happened, with one lady grabbing the arm of a security guard to get his attention. Looking him straight in the eyes, she told him to inform the slot machine that it should let her win. The guard said that slot machines do not respond to instructions or orders; after all, it's an inanimate object.

The woman agreed with him and said that she knew that was the case. However, she informed the security guard that he should tell the little man inside the slot machine to provide her with the payout! Regardless of how the guard tried to negate her theory, the woman insisted that she was on to the ruthless casino operations and the little men inside every slot machine. She stated that she had been playing the same slot machine all day and that it owed her some money.

In the end, the guard had to call for a tech man to come along and open up the slot machine to prove nobody was inside it. Unfortunately, this did little to quell the lady's complaints, and perhaps to this day, she is still bitter at the little men operating the slot machines' payouts!

Big Brother is Watching You

A croupier experienced a man who seemingly knew he was being watched by security one night. Having spent around $56,000 on casino games, he began communicating with the security team through the CCTV cameras operating within.

The croupier had only seen him sipping on soft drinks during the night, meaning that he wasn't drunk. But this didn't stop him from staring right into the camera lens, shouting and swearing at the security team operating them. He argued that there were magnets in the roulette balls and that the outcome of each round was rigged. Noticing that the CCTV cameras were turning around, he became a lot more paranoid, convinced that he was the target of the security team's entertainment.

At this point, the angry gambler grabbed hold of an ashtray and began trying to smash the camera in question with it. Naturally, this led to the security team entering the casino floor and escorting him out of the building. Yet before that moment, the likelihood is that the security guards were provided with oceans of amusement on his behalf. Seems like some people experienced the same in the casinos in the Netherlands.

Some of the chairs in the casino should be changed

Unusable Seating

In the last bizarre occurrence within a casino, you may want to ready yourself for this one. A casino employee recalls a middle-aged woman who would frequently visit the gambling establishment, dressed in fancy clothes and looking every bit the decorated person.

She would play a slot machine before moving on to the next one after a while. Then, the same thing would occur, and so on. Not specifically a problem – many gamblers change machines when things aren't going their way.

Yet this is not what was happening with this middle-aged lady. She would remain seated at one slot machine for as long as she possibly could before she ended up urinating on the seat! Whether or not the player was too fixated on the game, she was playing or had serious bladder problems is unknown.

Yet, the casino employee recalls her wetting up to six seats in a session due to this. The casino had to replace those seats, considering they would be ruined and unusable by other casino visitors.

It didn't stop her from playing the games within the casino at regular instances, though. And the casino allowed it to happen because she was a regular who brought profit to the establishment. Essentially, she was allowed to urinate on the seating because she was frequently spending money at the casino, and they didn't want to lose her custom.

Regardless of how much she was spending, we're not sure that that kind of behaviour is tolerated. Seating costs money to replace, so potentially the funds she was spending in the casino were used to introduce new seats to the establishment!
