How Women Compare to Men in The Gambling Market

Slowly but surely women are finding their feet in many areas which have earlier been viewed as ‘male territory’. One example is the online gambling world. In a recent study by bgo casino it was found that 2% of wagers placed on live dealer games have been by women. They also concluded that their female client base is standing at 40% strong.

It’s no secret that the male presence dominates at online casinos but in this new found research it shows that women are slowly but surely making their mark.

Interestingly enough female players aren’t the biggest live dealer game fans and prefer free online slots or bingo. At BGO casino, however, 55% of bingo bets placed are done by men.

One in a Few Million

Online casinos such as BGO casino have built campaigns to attract and appeal to the female demographic. One insider has revealed that their campaign featuring Paris Hilton was a massive success and resulted in a rapid increase of female players at the casino.

A lady from London beat the odds of 625 million to 1 when she managed to strike jackpot winnings of £1.7 million ($2.2 million) on two progressive jackpots on the Star Lanterns slot. The lucky lady struck a cool £1.1 million ($1.42 million) on 14 April earlier this year and cashed in on another £627,000 on the same slot two weeks later.

This big win serves as motivation for all female players showing that girls too can win while having fun.

The Truth is in The Statistics

According to recent figures, it shows that women gamblers are on the rise. According to research by the UKGC, 44% of women have admitted to online gambling. 30% of women who took the survey admitted that they’ve taken part in gambling of some sort in the past month. These statistics did not include the National Lottery.

It’s obvious that a variety of online casino sites, especially bingo-focused sites, are aimed at the female demographic. One can argue and play it off as stereotyping seeing as the sites clearly have a pink, perfect and frilly design in hopes of catching the female eye.

Luckily a few site operators have realised that women don’t need lavish designs that scream ‘Ladies’. They simply need a place where they too can enjoy a variety of gaming options. Women have taken quite the liking to social gaming as according to the BGO research, 19% of women take part in social gaming versus the 23% of male players. These social games are generally played by those who are active on social sites such as Facebook.

Strategy VS Luck

According to the statistics, men (21%) are still the most active online gamblers compared to 14% in women gamblers. One of the things that set female gamblers apart from the male demographic is their love for games of luck. Women tend to flock to online slots and bingo games. Men, on the other hand, opt for games that require more skill and strategy such as good casino table games, sports betting and poker.

You could argue that men prefer to have more control over the outcome and women like going with the flow. Whatever the case may be, it’s nice to see the number of female gamblers rising slowly but surely.
