Owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation, it began operating officially in 2004. It was expanded in 2009, and then a major expansion was completed in 2013, adding a new 1,000-room second hotel tower. A new casino section was also added as an attachment to that tower.

As a result of the various expansions and additions, WinStar World Casino stands at 400,000 square feet large, and it features more than 10,000 games for guests to play.
