Poker Predictions NewsIt’s a new year and with it comes plenty of new opportunities especially in the world of online gambling and poker. After a relaxing holiday the industry is starting 2018 with a bang and a few promising poker predictions.

Poker has been one of the biggest and most popular types of gambling for centuries. The game is played worldwide in land-based casinos and almost every online casino. Over the years the game has branched out and many variants have been brought into existence to increase the pleasure and stakes for all players.

Non-stop competition

Poker isn’t just a fun game that brings out the competitive side in players, it also unleashes the competitive side in online casinos. For instance, if Partypoker hadn’t created the MILLIONS brand, PokerStars might not have felt the urge to create the $25k Player’s No-Limit Hold’em Championship which in return resurrected the European, Latin American and Asia Pacific poker tours.

The competition between PokerStars and Partypoker is a stiff one that all poker players benefit from. If the one makes waves, the other is bound to follow suit and will try and produce even bigger waves.

It’s no secret that PokerStars is the largest online poker room. It’s surprising that its biggest competition is Partypoker and not 888Poker which is considered to be the second largest online poker room. With Partypoker making waves and PokerStars dominating, it will be interesting to see what 888Poker will do in 2018.

After all, they have been known to bring forth the most inspirational poker players such as Dominik Nitsche, Parker Talbot, and Kara Scott.

The return of Phil Ivey

Any avid poker player or fanatic will know of Phil Ivey, the man who used to be the greatest poker player in existence. In the past year Ivey seemed to have been dethroned by the Germans, some say he was hiding after the brutal shakedown with the Borgata and Crockford’s baccarat whips.

It seems Ivey decided to take a hiatus to avoid questions about his potential $19m loss in court. While some may consider him a cheat and question his integrity, it has been confirmed that he recently joined Virtue Poker as an advisor. This move might be spectacular or deadly for Virtue, but only time will tell.

Crypto’s birth

Cryptocurrency is a new digital currency that allows players to deposit, play and follow through all transactions online. With big names like Brian Rast, Dan Colman and Phil Ivey backing Virtue Poker and having the final say the potential is endless. It is predicted that Virtue Poker will make big waves in 2018 and that the big 3 poker names will be showing their crypto hands.

Ferguson Rises

The former Wold Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the year, Chris Ferguson has been back at it on the Poker field for two years now. Unlike expected, his return didn’t bring too much hatred and boycotting. While there have been a lot of rumours regarding the man himself and he probably won’t be asked to speak at the WSOP, Ferguson is said to be bringing the fire this year. Watch this space.

Give to receive

What started as a $10,000 donation in 1938, the PGA Tour has grown into mega charitable funding over the years. In 2014 the PGA Tour collected and created $133m in charitable funding and with the rapid increase this year will bring even bigger and better charity funding's.

2018 just might be a significant year for charitable donations from poker as more and more players are choosing to donate some of their winnings to EA charities. This goes hand in hand with the improvement seen by the Raising for Effective Giving (REG) foundations.

The new year might have only started, but it’s already looking like a very promising and highly rewarding year, especially for those interested and active in the poker world.
