Online GamblingWhen most students are counting up their pennies for a night on the town with their mates, one student will be found hard at work crunching the odds.

Tired of being broke, and determined not become another financial crisis statistic, Charlton Bird (a Business Management student at Manchester Metropolitan University) bet £100 on a horse named Frankel, and has never looked back.

What drove this clear thinking and analytically minded student to bet his student loan on the outcome of a horse race? Not the economy or even the reality of a £9,000 tuition bill. Charlton simply wanted better food.

In his interview with The Tab he said "I was just sick of eating Sainsbury's basic in first year. After rent it was all I could afford.”

With a whopping £18,000 in profit eating well is definitely not a problem.

Although Charlton started with a punt at the races he hasn’t stagnated. With the incredible amount of statistical information available online Charlton has extended his online gambling portfolio to include MMA bouts, boxing showcases, NFL games and even table tennis.

What is this super young man’s kryptonite? Is there something he will simply not get online and gamble on? The answer; basketball. He told The Lad Bible; “It's way too unpredictable! ... I know my limits.” He also added; “It's not about how much you win, it's about making sure you have the advantage. It's about the probability being highly likely.”

Besides the amazing impact online gambling has had on his financial life it has made his social life take an interesting turn as well. He used several thousand pounds of his earnings to participate in a work experience program in New York.

He is also claiming his 15 minutes of fame on social media. His story has captured the imagination of fellow students and online gambling fundi’s alike, skyrocketing his Twitter subscribers to over 3,600 followers.

This is in addition to his Facebook tipster pages ‘Banker Bet Tipster’ which has nearly 11,000 Likes. Not bad for someone who just wanted better food.
