The start of the new year marked the end of MoneyBookers/Skrill's time offering online casino banking services in Canada. January 2, 2014, marked the end of payment processing for gambling merchants and payments from merchants has come to an end.

Skrill reportedly sent out email notifications to its Canadian online casino banking customers and merchants, although they've indicated their intention to issue additional notifications to active gamblers.

Skrill offered few clues as to why the online casino banking service provider opted to pull out of the Canadian marketplace, only indicating that the decision came down following a review of its operations.

According to MoneyBookers/Skrill, the company 'remains committed' to providing support to Canadian clients. In an announcement, Skrill told its customers that they should “liaise with appropriate departments within your business to communicate this development and to articulate any impact across your organization.”
