Virtual reality at online casinosThe buzz word in the gaming industry right now, whether mobile, console, or casino games, is "virtual reality". The largest push from this new industry took place in 2016, but what does 2017 hold for this new trend?

"Around the world, new companies are popping up at a rapid rate with the aim of creating something new for those wanting a VR experience."

Both Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are growing and evolving on a daily basis. Better graphics, a more immersive experience, and out-of-this-world gameplay are what customers want.

Virtual Reality Industry

A report by Digi-Capital estimates that Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality will be a $120 billion industry by 2020.

It's easy to see how this industry will grow at a rapid rate thanks to the development of apps and headsets. The industry itself is very new and trying to find its feet, which means that the level of innovation is constantly on the rise.

A large majority of top casino software providers are already looking into new ways to incorporate VR. The addition of VR into casino slots and table games has already proven to be a popular choice for those with technology in the early stages.

Microgaming and VR

One of the top online casino software providers in the world is without a doubt Microgaming. It's no surprise that Microgaming is already testing VR products that they've previewed at the ICE Totally Gaming 2016 conference.

By using software such as CRYO Lab (the software designed to work flawlessly with Oculus Rift VR headsets), Microgaming could combine exciting new worlds with their casio creations.

We can only imagine the innovative new games we'll be seeing at Microgaming casinos in the future.

NetEnt's VR contributions

Another huge name in the online casino industry is NetEnt. Known to be the creator of some of the most popular online slots in the world, NetEnt is also looking to VR for something new.

One of the most beloved online slots at many NetEnt casinos is Gonzo's Quest. This adventure slot has already been redesigned and tested for a VR setting that proved to be a hit.

Featuring the same symbols and characters, the new VR version of Gonzo's Quest puts playing and winning literally at your fingertips. This version of the NetEnt slot will be released later this year.

It's hard to deny that VR is going to take the online gambling world by storm. Experts predict that VR online gambling could be worth a whopping $520 million by 2021!

The future is closer than we think and it would seem we should all be purchasing our VR headsets to get in on the action.
