It’s always been a theory of ours that making deposits and withdrawals at an online casino should be a simple process. And to ensure that this is the case, we believe that a variety of payment methods should be supported by a site. For the most part, this is certainly the case. And when it comes to the United Kingdom, the country plays host to one of the most thriving gambling environments around the world. Because of this, numerous payment methods are also usable for UK players, and these are available at a multitude of high-quality, entertaining UK casino sites.Read more
Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation to Launch Online Casino
It was last summer that the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) launched a website that specifically caters to the New Brunswick area. At the time, it was stated that the intentions were to expand casino operations into other provinces within Canada, too. As long as they received a sign-off from the provinces’ respective governments, there would be no problem with doing so.
Early on in February, it was announced that Nova Scotia had signed off on the introduction of its own online casino for residents. And according to a spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, the costs incurred by developing online casino games will be shared by all provinces providing such services. At that time, estimates suggested that Nova Scotia’s cost would be $3.1 million.
Of course, the decision by the Nova Scotia government did raise some backlash from anti-gambling campaigners. According to them, the site operating in New Brunswick allows players to wager up to $500 on a single blackjack hand or a maximum of $100 per spin of online slot machines being provided through it.

Dissolution of the Nova Scotia Gambling Awareness Organisation
Advocates for anti-gambling have expressed their concerns over online casinos creating issues for vulnerable people playing games from home. However, a statement was made by the ALC, stating that it is a necessary move so as to stop people from making the decision to gamble on websites that do not have ties to the Atlantic provinces instead. According to figures, around $100 million is wagered on such offshore sites, although the ALC has not released any information on how they have come to know of this figure.
The system that the ALC is pursuing has been praised by the Nova Scotia government, though. They believe that online casino gambling is something that can be done safely and that the province itself is prepared to provide assistance to those who do suffer from gambling problems. Responsible gambling efforts will be in place at the online casino site waiting to be launched.
Yet, last year, the government of the province dissolved the Gambling Awareness Nova Scotia organisation. The non-profit governmental setup disappeared pretty much overnight, without any notice given beforehand. However, a spokesperson for the Nova Scotia government said that all funding previously being used for the Gambling Awareness organisation would be redirected elsewhere. This, he said, would be rolled up into the overall budget provided for mental health and addictions within Nova Scotia.
That being said, once it was dissolved, criticism was aimed at the government within Nova Scotia. A community group received grants from the Gambling Awareness setup, and this left them with little knowledge as to whether its work would continue to be supported in any way, especially when COVID-19 had driven many people to the online gambling world.
