Historical casinosA casino is known as a building, or in modern days, a site that allows and offers various types of gambling activities. The gambling industry has significantly grown over the many centuries it has been in existence. Nowadays the most growth can be attributed to the launch of online gambling and mobile gambling

Over the years there have been many debates about whether or not casinos have a good or bad impact on society and state revenues. Despite it all, the casino gaming industry has managed to remain in place. It has never faltered and it has always persevered even through the toughest times.

The earliest evidence of gambling shows that forms of betting have existed since the dawn of human history.

According to research, some of the first forms of gambling took place in Ancient China in 2300 BC where they used tiles for a rudimentary game of chance.

Land-based casinos have become such a vital part in the revenues and evolution of the gambling industry. While new casinos pop up on a regular base there are some who withstood the test of time. Take a look at some of the oldest casinos in the world.

Golden Gate Casino – The first Las Vegas casino - 1906

Las Vegas has been known as one of the most popular hotspots for gamblers, but the very first Las Vegas casino, Golden Gate Casino was established in 1906. When taking a trip through history you will see that Las Vegas used to be an empty and dusty desert outpost along a trade route to California before it became known as The Entertainment Capital of the World.

Way back before gambling became legal, many early casino developers were attracted to this seemingly deserted region because authorities struggled to enforce law in such remote locations. The Red Rooster was known to be the very first casino on the Las Vegas strip and even managed to sell alcohol during the era of prohibition. Before the Las Vegas strip became a popular gambling area the Golden Gate Casino opened its doors in the city. The original hotel and casino could be found on Freemont Street and was seen as a very luxurious establishment at the time with its classic 10’x10’ gaming rooms.

The Golden Gate Casino managed to withstand the tests of time and it has spent over $12 million on renovations and expansion. The Golden Gate Casino was started by a group of Italian- Americans from the San Francisco Bay Area. They gave it the name Golden Gate Casino as it was formerly known as Hotel Nevada and Sal Sagev. For a modern casino experience with a historical twist, this is definitely a must visit on any Las Vegas trip.
